The Colt Army Special 38 was produced from 1908-1927 and was mainly utilized by police forces, not the U.S. Army. The revolver allowed for the use of more powerful ammunition like the .38 Special round, which was appealing to police departments. The Army Special could be had with a blue or finish, with barrel 6 inches. The revolver was renamed the "Colt's Official Police" in 1927 in order to better market to law enforcement agencies. 1926
